The second round of the Royal Commission's public hearings were held on 27 March, which had a focus on data, research and innovation.

This round of public hearings helped to build an understanding of the different possible uses of data, from the macro to the micro.

The Royal Commission heard from a range of local, national and international witnesses discussing:

  • an SA case study of creating a learning system using big data and program data from the Early Intervention Research Directorate (EIRD) and Child and Family Support System
  • the incorporate of research methodologies into program implementation
  • the use of longitudinal data to support research and service design
  • the key elements required for a universal child development data system.
